Terms of Use

By using MaterialMath you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Use of the site

MaterialMath is provided free of charge for your personal and commercial use. You may use the calculators to estimate material for your own projects, for projects you are quoting, and for projects you are building for clients. You may print, download and share the materials lists a calculator produces.

You may not:

  • Scrape, mirror or republish the site's content, calculators or data files as your own.
  • Remove or obscure attribution, source citations or verification dates from material taken from this site.
  • Use automated systems to place unreasonable load on the site.
  • Attempt to interfere with the site's operation or security.

Estimates, not advice

The calculators produce estimates. They are not professional financial, tax, engineering, architectural or construction advice, and they do not create any professional relationship between you and MaterialMath. The disclaimer forms part of these terms and you should read it in full.

You are responsible for verifying that any quantity, dimension or method produced by this site is appropriate for your project and compliant with the codes and regulations that apply to it.

No warranty

The site and its calculators are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. MaterialMath does not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any figure, formula or result is accurate, current or fit for any particular purpose.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, MaterialMath and its contributors are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or special damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, this site. That includes without limitation over-ordering, under-ordering, wasted material, project delay, failed inspection, rework, property damage, personal injury, lost profits or lost data.

Where liability cannot be excluded by law, it is limited to the amount you paid to use this site — which is zero.

Intellectual property

The text, design, code and structure of this site are the property of MaterialMath unless otherwise stated. Standards, codes and manufacturer data referenced on this site remain the property of their respective owners; they are cited here as sources under normal attribution practice and are not reproduced in full.

Formulas, physical constants and unit conversions are facts and are not claimed as anyone's property.

Third-party links

This site links to external sources including manufacturers, standards bodies and government agencies. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy or availability. Some outbound retailer links may be affiliate links; where they appear they are disclosed, and they never affect what a calculator computes.

Availability and changes

We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the site at any time without notice. We may also revise these terms; the version published on this page at the time you use the site is the version that applies. Material changes will be reflected in the date below.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which MaterialMath operates, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
